QNB is the country’s first Qatari-owned commercial bank, with an ownership structure split between the Qatar Investment Authority (50%) and the remaining (50%) held by members of the public.It was founded in 1964 and currently has subsidiaries and associates in 31 countries spanning 3 continents.

QNB Group has steadily grown to be the biggest bank in Qatar and the largest financial institution in the Middle East and Africa region. In 1976, less than a decade after opening its first domestic branch, QNB launched its international presence with the opening of a branch in London, UK. Its international presence was complemented two years later with a branch opening in Paris, France. Then, in 2005, it began implementing an intensive and ambitious international expansion plan, enabling it to extend its presence into more than 30 countries today, comprised of associates, subsidiaries, branches and representative offices.

For the year ended 31 December 2017, the Group’s Net Profit reached QAR 13.1 billion (USD 3.6 billion), up by 6% from last year. Total assets increased to QAR 811 billion (USD 223 billion), up by 13%, the highest ever achieved by the group. This was driven by a growth rate of 12% in loans and advances to reach QAR 584 billion (USD 161 billion).

The Group provides an array of investment banking services through its subsidiary, QNB Capital, to corporate, government and institutional clients within Qatar and globally. QNB Capital has one of the best corporate finance teams in the GCC region offering extensive transaction experience and in depth advisory – including mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt capital markets, and project financing advisory.
